On-line Film Journals

Bright Lights Film Journal. A popular-academic hybrid of movie analysis, history, and commentary, looking at classic and commercial, independent, exploitation, and international film from a wide range of vantage points from the aesthetic to the political.

The Journal for MultiMedia History. Based in the Department of History of The University at Albany, SUNY, the JMMH is dedicated to presenting and reviewing historical scholarship focusing on media of all periods and all nations.

Film Score. The Online Magazine of Motion Picture and Television Music Appreciation.

Framework: The Journal of Cinema and Media. Online companion to the British printed journal.

Jump Cut. Not a currently active on-line publication so much as an archive of articles beginning with the frist issues in 1974 of this important journal.

Kabinet. Online journal of Kabinet, a not-for-profit motion picture studio which donates the proceeds from its films to other non-profit organizations that help the needy, advance education and the arts, and promote tolerance and social justice.

Kinoeye: New Perspectives on European Film explores the fringes of mainstream European cinema, past and present, in a mix of film reviews, festival overviews, interviews, analytical articles, and reviews of recent VHS/DVD releases.

M/C Journal: A Journal of Media and Culture, an Australian on-lne publication, was founded in 1998 as a place of public intellectualism analysing and critiquing the meeting of media and culture; it is fully peer-reviewed.

Screening the Past. An international, refereed electronic journal of visual media and history.

Scope. A fully refereed journal edited by staff and students within the Institute of Film Studies at the University of Nottingham.

Senses of Cinema. An Australian online film journal devoted to the serious and eclectic discussion of cinema; refereed at request of author.

The Visual Anthropology Review. The official publication of the Society for Visual Anthropology.
